Global Research
GE Global Research is one of the world’s leading industrial research labs. The Electrical Technologies and systems (ETS) organization is the technology organization at GE Global Research focused on electrical, electronics and opto-electronics related research. The ETS organization spans research in areas such as power electronics, controls, electrical machines, optics and photonics, instrumentation, electronic devices and opto-electronics devices. Key applications supported by the organization are electrification of GE’s machinery, generators, solar, instrumentation and advanced controls of gas turbines, wind turbines and aircraft engines.

The optics and instrumentation lab is a lab in the ETS organization. The lab works on cutting edge research in the areas of optical sensors and instrumentation for the GE businesses. This includes working on tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy based sensor systems, surface plasmon resonance based sensor systems. The lab helps in developing new products and applications for customers, including setting up experiments, creating/conducting designed experiments to help analyze combustion/ emission process, protein detection and performing feasibility studies of new optical technologies.
